Today is number 17 of my 30-day poetry-writing spree and things are still going well.
I decided to write a poem about a silly drawing I used to draw on the chalkboard as a child. It certainly is one of the silliest things I used to draw—not to mention its grossness! Years ago, I drew it for my children and they got kicks out of it—except the medium was a blackboard not a computer program. Although the pics posted here look a bit different from the original, the gist of their appearance comes through...
With that… I give you the poem...
What’s That Hanging From Your Nose?

What’s That Hanging From Your Nose?
What’s that hanging in your nose?
Could it be Mom’s pantyhose
A pri-ck-ly long stemmed rose
No, it can’t—I don’t suppose
What is that laying in your eye?
Looks like a worm with a large green sty
Might be crawling toward your thigh
Why do you wear a shiny baldhead?
‘Cept that green hair and that red
Pro-ba-bly could toast wheat bread
O’er your brain in pan-shaped lead
Looks like a plastic paper clip
Strong enough to get a grip
On stair rails so you won’t slip
Never said what was in your nose
An-swer-ing I guess you chose
Not to say—not to disclose
‘Cause it’s where your earwax flows

I hope you enjoyed this poem about weird things in the nose, eyes, and other facial features. You can leave a poem of your own, especially one about grossed out faces, in the comments section below. Plus, don't forget you can help a kid leave a poem for me and others to read in the comments section as well...
