Ice Cream Floats In Banana Boat

Today is number 13 of my 30-day poetry-writing spree and things are still going well. Except... I only had 30 minutes left this evening to write and post this poem about ice-cream banana boats... I mean it was like 11:30 PM and I had not written a single word. Thus, I had initially published the poem without my usual pre-empting or ending text in order to make the midnight deadline!

Then I was able to exhale, swipe my forehead, and add my usual finalizing touches to this post…

So... Obviously, I'll have to come back later to add images... but you can enjoy the poem now...

Ice Cream Floats In Banana Boats

Ice cream floats in banana boats

Start to melt as you loosen your belt

Strawberries bananas fill your belly up

Whip cream cherries overflow the cup

Feels so good from metal or plastic spoons

You could eat it in the morning night or noon

When girl scoops ice cream from the bin

You watch to see how much she puts in

The plastic dish shaped like a boat

Atop sliced bananas awaiting frozen scoops

If she fails to ladle large mounds

You cry and plea—your feet stamp the ground

Please add more—you soften your voice

Grin ear-to-ear—giant scoops help you rejoice

Ice cream floating inside banana boats

Enjoys slippery rides sliding down eager throats

Excites your tongue

Can never get enough

It’s delicious and nutritious

I could hoard this cooling stuff!
